UPL Stock Surges 5% as Specialty Chemical Subsidiary Eyes Aggressive Growth
Investors respond positively to growth projections for Superform, which targets annual revenue expansion of up to 23 percent.

UPL Ltd experienced a notable 5 percent stock price increase on Monday, reaching ₹514, following analyst reports that underscored strong growth prospects for its specialty chemicals division, Superform.
According to a Motilal Oswal Financial Services analysis, Superform is projecting annual revenue growth between 20 and 23 percent, with phosphorus and cyanide chemistries identified as primary expansion areas. The subsidiary also plans to enter the battery chemicals market, positioning itself to benefit from growing demand for specialized materials and the global shift away from China-dependent supply chains.
The brokerage report noted that Superform aims to increase its contribution to UPL's total revenue to 45-50 percent over time, achieving a 20 percent compound annual growth rate that would outpace the parent company's overall business expansion. To support these ambitions, Superform has earmarked $100 million to $125 million in annual capital expenditure through fiscal year 2030.
A significant advantage for Superform is its access to UPL's extensive global infrastructure, which includes more than 40 manufacturing facilities across 11 countries and market presence in over 130 nations. This eliminates the need to build distribution channels independently.
The company is substantially scaling its cyanide production capacity from approximately 17,000 tonnes to 50,000 tonnes, with long-term goals of reaching 200,000 tonnes. Superform is also developing battery materials for commercialization within 18-24 months, including sodium-ion battery components such as Prussian Blue and Prussian White cathode materials used in energy storage systems.
