Punjab Adds Nearly 8 Lakh New Voters as Final Electoral Rolls Published
The state's total electorate now stands at over 2 crore after a comprehensive revision process across all 117 assembly constituencies.

Punjab's Chief Electoral Officer has released the final electoral rolls for all 117 assembly constituencies, adding nearly 8 lakh new voters to the state's electoral database. The total number of registered voters now stands at 2.01 crore, representing a 3.64 percent increase from the draft rolls published in August.
The updated voter list includes approximately 1.04 crore male voters, 97.24 lakh female voters, and 506 third-gender voters. Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra confirmed that both physical and digital copies of the rolls have been distributed to recognized political parties and are accessible through multiple online portals and local election offices.
The revision process, which began on June 25 under directions from the Election Commission of India, involved extensive house-to-house enumeration and verification. Election officials issued notices to over 35 lakh voters with unmapped records or discrepancies, ultimately marking 86,038 individuals as ineligible following proper verification procedures.
As part of the exercise, authorities increased the number of polling stations from 24,453 to 25,332 to improve voter accessibility. Mitra acknowledged the contribution of nearly 90,000 Booth Level Agents across the state and encouraged any eligible citizens whose names are missing from the final rolls to submit enrollment forms through the ECINET mobile app or their local Booth Level Officer.
