Kamal Haasan's next feature film is called "Sandiyar", his production house Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) announced on Friday. The film will be directed by SU Arun Kumar, and the title was revealed a day before Haasan's 73rd birthday on Saturday.
RKFI shared the title on its official Instagram handle along with a first-look poster. The image shows Haasan standing outside a vehicle and leaning in through the open window, a handgun in his hand. It hints at a crime or action setting, though the makers have not said anything about the plot.
This is the first time Haasan and Kumar are working together. Kumar is known for "Chithha" and "Sethupathi", so the project brings a director with a track record of grounded, character-led stories to a star whose banner is also backing the film.
The technical team is already in place. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, and the action choreography is by the duo Anbariv. Both are in demand in Tamil cinema, which points to a film built for scale.
For the business of cinema, the announcement shows how a birthday reveal works as a marketing moment. A title and a single poster generate social media buzz months before release, which helps with music rights, distribution talks and audience interest. Here Haasan is also a producer, alongside R Mahendran, and the film is presented under RKFI and Turmeric Media.
No release date or cast list beyond Haasan has been announced yet. Source report: The Hans India.
