Covista Q1 FY27: US healthcare educator lifts guidance as enrollment hits 104,713

Covista, which calls itself America's largest healthcare educator, raised its full-year revenue and adjusted earnings-per-share guidance after reporting first-quarter fiscal 2027 results on October 29, 2026. Revenue rose 10.7% to $511.5 million, and adjusted EPS climbed 25.1% to $2.19.

For readers starting the day with an eye on global markets, the share price reaction is the telling detail. The stock traded at $41.49, only slightly above the previous close of $41.28. That suggests investors saw a strong but largely expected quarter, with the good news already priced in.

Profit grew faster than sales, which is the real story. Adjusted EBITDA rose 17.1% to $131.2 million, and margin widened 140 basis points to 25.6%. Management said the earnings beat came from higher revenue, not from shifting expenses between quarters, and that it still stepped up investment.

Total enrollment grew 7.6% to 104,713 students across five institutions. Walden University led with 58,881 students, up 12.8%, its 13th straight quarter of growth. Its revenue rose 14.1% to $216.7 million, and its margin improved to 33.2%.

Chamberlain University grew more slowly, with 40,351 students, up 1.3%. Revenue rose 7.4% to $192.4 million, while margin slipped 10 basis points to 19.5% as the company spent on marketing and new campuses in Cincinnati and Salt Lake City. A 27th campus in Nashville is due to start classes in January 2027, and a second physician assistant program opened in Phoenix.

The smallest unit, Medical & Veterinary, saw enrollment rise 3.5% to 5,481 students. Revenue grew 10.0% to $102.5 million, and margin jumped 370 basis points to 26.7%, the biggest gain of the three segments.
